The  CPST and RV courses have been updated to reflect the legal requirements for retail in Alberta.
Every person  entering the dispensary business or working in a cannabis dispensary this is important training.

Value & Benefits of CPST

  1. Quality Training. Your staff will receive training on all the cannabis products that exist on the market, how to use them, and how they work. 90% of budtenders or other staff nationwide cannot describe accurate dosing, time to effect, product differences, and safe methods of consumption, etc. Why is your dispensary better than the rest? Because you ensure your staff are properly trained with the most credible certifications around.
  2. Increase Sales & Customer Loyalty. Staff properly trained in CPST will help your dispensary maximize revenue with increases in customer confidence and loyalty.
  3. Decrease Risk. A CPST certification will help minimize the risk for your dispensary by empowering your sales representatives with the knowledge they need to safely dispense cannabis products. Your dispensary can avoid public health and safety issues with a CPST certification.

We highly recommend this course to physicians, pharmacists, caregivers, parents of MMJ children, dispensary owners/managers, product producers dispensary consultants, budtenders and the public. Cannabis Products & Sales Training (CPST) was written specifically for sales associates, by industry experts, in a way that everyone can understand. CPST uses certified medical science to inform sales representatives on tough topics such as time-to-effect for different forms of THC. CPST is a great course for those who are new to the cannabis industry and need to become more familiar with its products. Being CPST certified by the Trichome Institute goes a long way in pursuing job opportunities in an industry that is hard to break into. This course comes with a student workbook that you take home and use as during the exam!

Lunch Break 1 – 1:45 – not included in the course fee – restaurant on site or bring lunch

Part 2: Responsible Vendor
3 Hours ( 2 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.)
Cost: $174.00 +gst

The Trichome Institute is proud to present the cannabis industry’s first expertly-reviewed responsible vendor textbook.  The Trichome Institute produces educational materials to help limit the misinformation about cannabis and to provide accurate content to people in the cannabis industry.  We have all legal, medical, and scientific information reviewed by respected experts within the cannabis community.   The RV course includes legal requirements set out by Canadian and Alberta Law and regulated by AGLC including health and safety standards, criminal liability and violations of Cannabis Law, Hours of Operation; Identification of Customers – acceptable forms of identification, how to complete a thorough identification check, signs of Fraudulent identification, confiscating Fraudulent Identification, avoid selling cannabis to minors and information privacy. Also included, recognizing impairment, gauging consumer tolerance and cannabis experience, understanding consumer goals, recommending product, cannabis flower and edibles.

Responsible Vendor (RV) is great for dispensaries. This cannabis program is certified, monitored, and licensed through The Colorado Department of Public Health & Environment and the Marijuana Enforcement Division. Trichome is currently seeking the approval from AGLC to have their cannabis courses recognized as quality training for cannabis workers and employers. RV teaches the best practices for a dispensary and sets a standard for operation procedures. A staff trained and certified in RV can prevent or minimize infractions and violations commonly issued by the enforcement agencies. RV is a great course for those who are in the cannabis industry and need to remain compliant in a highly regulated environment.

Value & Benefits of RV

  1. Quality Training. Your staff will receive training on state laws, best practices, customer service, safety, product knowledge, cannabis chemistry, and more. Each staff member receives a Responsible Vendor Designated wallet ID card along with an in-class workbook they get to keep to retain the information.
  2. Marketing and Advertising. With concern of product safety, and community safety, it is important to inform your community and new customers that you take this business seriously. After completing the program, your shop receives window decals and a certificate to let your customers know you are a Responsible Vendor Designated dispensary.
  3. Protection for your dispensary. If and when the MED initiates a sting operation on your business, the Responsible Vendor Designation allows you to mitigate multiple levels of infractions. One budtender letting in an underage shopper or fake ID could cost you up to a $100,000 fine and suspension or even revocation of your license. It is essential to earn the extra layer of protection the Responsible Vendor Certification affords.
